Blueberries and Eraser Tops

Blueberries on the floor,
She doesn't even know 2+2=4,
But I'm inspired to train her so she can know that and more,
She mistakes sister's eraser tops for snacks,
Her poopy diapers are like a perfectly timed demonic attack,
Her routine has a way of pointing out where my patience lacks,
Jesus music plays in the background,
So my spirit can rise and my mind can remain solidly sound,
Everyday I can hear someone whose knock becomes a pound,
Inviting me to slip into the temptation of a self-focused life,
Where pride screams, "You should have some down time,
You don't have to really fulfill all your duties as a wife!
What is one day of relaxing, one day out from under the knife?"
But I must remember I am Eve's daughter,
Where the "does HE really say" and "what ifs" caught her
I steel my resolve to be the mountain goat that does not falter,
And in a moment the fog has lifted,
And I have once again been sifted,
And I know that I have been gifted,
As I watch her pudgy fingers put the eraser tops back into the jar,
Changing her diaper, I sing a song and look into her eyes full of mommy-stars,
And I learn that a little change in perspective can take me very far.
