Homeschooling Mom From Leander listen

I'm a homeschooling mom from Leander,
My dreams now consist of going out to eat somewhere in the financial vicinity of Colonel Sanders,
I'm a poet on an apparent eternal hiatus,
No one looking for my expertise on the perfect metaphor,
My days are spent picking goldfish off the floor,
A is for apple and B is for bear,
"No! No, honey! Don't put that in the baby's hair!"
C is for Candy,
D is for Dog,
"God kill me if I start another mothering blog!"
Did I say candy?
No, I mean C is for cat,
"Oh, get up! Don't throw yourself on the floor like that!"
Close the books,
It's time for lunch,
Chicken nuggets again,
But today is special,
We have watered down punch!
The day is halfway done,
I look done to see the same oven but another bun,
My feet are swollen,
He walks through the door,
"My Hero! My Savior!"
"Not today," he says as he drops his tired body on the floor,
The crying baby in bed,
Praise Jesus, the kids are all fed,
Just a few strokes across the teeth in my head,
Oh Lord, how do I manage this another day?
A few gentle words for me does he have to say,
"Minute, by minute and hour by hour,
When your heart is growing bitter and your attitude sour,
Remember each baby a mother longs to hold,
They would trade in a heartbeat your sorrows untold,
Remember your children as they sleep safe in the night,
That they are breathing easily, without any fight,
There are no machines and cords, holding them from their play,
No doctors to tell them to go or to stay,
Every choice you have made has been one of design,
You choose this path on which you now yourself find,
All results will be seen now and in good time,
Your children are loved,
It is seen by all and from above,
Not one crooked T or backwards seven,
Goes unnoticed in my realm of heaven,
Each deep breath that you take that quelches your rising frustration,
Is one that I tally for your final celebration,
They will rise and call you blessed and blessed you will be,
When you see that your children have grown into the image of me.
