Hymn

Take over my lips
And let me sing hymns
Let them spew forth
Undulating into the arms covered by the shawl of eternity
Without knowledge I sang hymn choruses of wisdom
Not reading words off a page
But humming the tune of the song of my eternal being
Forgetting that anyone else was around I did not open my eyes to see if I was clapping along with anyone
I knew I was on beat
Just me and the hymn and the inner peace
That made my soul concave around it
Silence in the midst of chaos
I was not affected
Afflicted but not affected
Because the Great I am will persevere longer than my JOB like circumstance
And it becomes a game to me
Because this outer shell is just that
And death cannot touch the real me
Because the real me
Is seated in heavenly places
And rippling through the Mecca within my mind are lines of hymns
More significant than human’s ears have strength to here
I look beyond the introspection of bodily images
Pull back the drapes and touch the place where I know who I am
