No Reciprocation

May I strive to serve, without expecting to be served in return,
May I give until my spirit is freed and my flesh is burned,
Quiet my mind that would try to justify an exception,
Because you've given and given since inception,
You cease not in generosity,
Sweep my heart clean of the doctrine that my good deeds should be met with reciprocity,
May love so fully invade my soul,
That in poverty, I would see my glass as full,
That suffering would be a joy to bear,
Rejoicing to be like Christ, the cross mine to share!
